What does MEWP stand for?

MEWP stands for Mobile Elevating Work Platform. It is the technical term for equipment designed to move people, tools and materials to an elevated working position.

What is the difference between working height and platform height?

Platform height is the maximum height of the platform floor. Working height is a manufacturer-stated figure intended to represent the height an operator can reach from that platform. Always compare machines using the same measurement.

What does horizontal outreach mean?

Horizontal outreach is the sideways distance the platform can reach from the machine. Available outreach can reduce as basket load increases or when stabilisers, slew angle and chassis configuration change.

Why can specifications differ for the same model?

A model can have different figures across model years, markets, chassis, baskets and optional equipment. MEWP.guide records configuration notes and source documents so those differences are not silently combined.

Can I filter machines by height, outreach and weight?

Yes. The machine catalogue supports working-height, outreach, width and weight limits alongside manufacturer, machine type and power filters. Browse the full catalogue

Is the highest platform capacity available across the full working envelope?

Not necessarily. Some platforms publish restricted and unrestricted capacities, and maximum outreach may only be available at a lower basket load. Confirm the load-specific working envelope before selecting a machine.

Are manufacturer specification sheets available?

Where a source document is available, the machine page links to or displays the manufacturer specification sheet and identifies when a supplier document has been used instead. Read the technical guides

Can MEWP.guide confirm that a machine is suitable for my job?

No database replaces a site-specific assessment. Confirm ground conditions, access, wind rating, rescue arrangements, required outreach and basket load with the manufacturer or a competent equipment supplier before use. Open the access planner
