What width MEWP will fit through a doorway?

Machine widths vary enormously across the catalogue -- from compact vertical mast and push-around lifts designed specifically for restricted access, at well under a metre wide, up to wide scissor lifts and boom lifts over 1.8 m. There's no single "doorway width" answer: it depends entirely on the machine type and model, which is exactly what this tool checks for you against real published dimensions rather than a rule of thumb.

How to measure an opening for a MEWP

Measure the narrowest point of the route, not just the doorway itself: the lowest overhead height, any door furniture (closers, handles, frames) that intrudes into the opening, thresholds and steps, and any corners or turns immediately before or after the opening that the machine also has to clear. Check the manufacturer's transport or stowed configuration too -- some machines are wider or taller in their working configuration than when stowed for movement.

MEWP access isn't just about width

A machine that fits through the opening still needs turning space on the other side, adequate floor loading for its weight, a safe gradient and ground condition to travel on, and clearance from overhead obstructions. Check the Slope & Gradient Converter for site gradients, and browse the full MEWP database for complete specifications before booking.
