Spider lift vs boom lift

Compare tracked spider lifts with self-propelled boom lifts for access, setup, mobility and working envelope.

Access and setup

Spider lifts can offer compact tracked access but require stabiliser deployment and suitable bearing conditions. Self-propelled booms usually operate from the chassis without separate outriggers.

Movement at height

Many self-propelled booms can drive while elevated within manufacturer limits. Spider lifts are generally repositioned after lowering and retracting the stabilisers.

Selection factors

Compare route width, machine weight, deployed footprint, ground pressure, outreach at load, power source and the need to reposition during the task.
