How to assess MEWP width, clearance and the complete access route for restricted sites.
Quoted machine width
Machine width normally describes the stowed chassis, but source conventions can differ. Guardrails, baskets, outriggers or optional equipment may control the actual clearance needed.
Allow usable clearance
Do not select a machine with a quoted width equal to the opening. Allow for tolerances, steering, surface irregularities and safe separation from doors, walls and services.
Width is one constraint
Also verify stowed height, length, turning radius, gradient capability and floor loading along the entire route.
