Understand machine weight, wheel loads, ground bearing pressure and transport limits when selecting a MEWP.
Total machine weight
Published machine weight is essential for transport and access checks, but it does not describe how load is distributed through individual wheels, tracks or outriggers.
Ground and floor capacity
A structural or ground assessment may require wheel loads, point loads, outrigger reactions and contact areas. These values should come from the current manufacturer manual or engineering data.
Configuration changes
Chassis, batteries, generators, baskets and optional equipment can change total weight. Confirm whether a source states minimum, maximum or approximate weight.
